But here’s the thing…it’s all part of it. Growth isn’t tidy, and it sure as hell isn’t graceful.

You’ll feel like a mess. You’ll question everything. You might cry in the shower or talk to your ceiling. That’s normal. Keep going anyway.

Lift up slowly:

1. Start small. You don’t need to reinvent your whole life by Tuesday. Change one thing.

2. Be honest with yourself, even if it’s weird or ugly. That’s the good stuff!

3. Get used to the stretch. If it feels uncomfortable, you’re probably doing it right.

4. Laugh when you can. Especially at yourself. It reminds you you’re not a robot.

5. Don’t wait to feel ready…spoiler: you won’t.

Real growth feels weird because you’ve never been here before. But trust it…that stretch is where the magic starts to crack through. If it didn’t test you, it wouldn’t change you.

You're not stuck. You just don't like your options.

"I can't leave" usually means "I won't deal with what happens if I do."
"I can't change" means "I don't want to do the hard part."
It's pretty standard… pretend we're trapped when really we're just avoiding the actual solution (because we don't like it).

Sometimes it really does just boil down to either "stay miserable," or "burn everything down and start over."

That's a brutal choice. But it's still a choice.

Things are hardly ever really out of your control… more often than not, you're just not willing to pay the price yet. And that's fine… until you start telling yourself there's nothing you can do.

You've always got a choice. Even when it doesn't feel like it.

You’re not stuck. You’re scared. Scared to ditch what’s familiar even if it’s slowly messing you up. That’s not weakness. That’s your brain doing its awkward best to keep you “safe.” It hangs on to what it knows, even if it’s poison.

You think once you notice the behavior, you’ll just snap your fingers and stop doing it. But nah. Your brain’s been rehearsing this stuff for years. It doesn’t let go just because you had one self aware shower thought.

And sure, you might get hyped and try to fix it all in one go. Clean slate. New rules. You’re reborn. Until you wake up tired, fall into the same habits, and now you’re frustrated and disappointed.

What actually works is much smaller than you want it to be. Stuff that feels almost pointless at first. But it adds up.

Hold up and slow down…and

1. Say the damn truth out loud
What’s actually not working? What crap are you pretending is fine? Call it out. We both know the truth.

2. Stop waiting to feel ready
So just do something small. Yea, I know I sound like a broken record…but trust me start small and easy.

3. Talk it out
Find someone who won’t just nod and feed your nonsense, but will hit you with the real talk. A friend, your journal, a therapist…whatever gets it done.

4. Remind yourself
Fear isn’t a stop sign. You start by keeping a promise to yourself that no one else sees. Five minutes of stillness. A walk where you don’t scroll. Brushing your teeth without rushing. Not deep, just intentional.

From there, you build. One quiet thing at a time. Let your anxiety learn that not everything has to be urgent or dramatic.

You’re not broken. You’re just sick of surviving on autopilot.

Grief Has No Timeline

There is no "should be over it by now."

Your dad died a year ago and you still pull up his number in your phone sometimes. Your buddy passed and you still expect to see him at the bar. The divorce was final months ago and it still hits you at random moments, like getting gut-punched by a memory.

That's normal. Grief doesn't have an expiration date, and the people who tell you to "move on" have either never lost anything important or they're doing the same thing you are and just hiding it better.

The problem isn't that you're still grieving. The problem is when grief goes underground and starts coming out as insomnia, anger, drinking, or a depression you can't name. That's unprocessed grief, and it's patient enough to wait but heavy enough to sink you.

If something's been off since the loss, it might be time to talk to someone.

Insight

Some days life feels like a sprint, and others feel like a marathon.
The pace changes, but the key stays the same: keep moving.
The hardest part isn’t the challenges, it’s when we stop.

Life gets really heavy when fear, doubt, or setbacks hold us still so long that we forget how to move at all.
It doesn’t matter if you take a wrong turn or fall flat a time or two. Every step still counts. Even in the “wrong” direction, you are building endurance.
The only thing that truly holds us back is standing still.

So keep walking. Keep running. Just keep moving.
That is how you get past whatever's been holding you down.

Sometimes shit just falls apart all at once… and somewhere in the middle of it you start thinking that this might be the one that actually takes you out.

It’s hard to know the difference between whether something is wrecking you or reshaping you when you’re still in the middle of it… because both of them feel like getting your ass kicked.

Then one day you look up and realize that the thing that you thought might end you, just… didn’t. But it did level you up while you weren’t looking.

In almost every scary movie, the monster stops being scary once you finally see it.
That’s how fear works.
It feels huge when it’s hiding.
But once you give it a name: anxiety, guilt, grief, change… it gets smaller. It’s anticlimactic. A lot less exciting.

So… Turn on the light.
Check the closet, under the bed, or out the window.
Half the time, there’s nothing even there.

And if there is, at least you’ll know what you’re dealing with.

You might be surprised at how easily doors open when you lead with curiosity… but you'll find that they close just as easily if you roll with criticism instead. We've all been on both sides of this, and nobody likes it… but for some reason we keep doing it anyway.

Stop doing that. Next time you're curious about something: ask. Find out who's really in front of you. They might surprise you. Good or bad, at least you're not left wondering.

Self-Care Is Not Avoidance

Real self-care makes your life harder in the short term and better in the long term. Fake self-care does the opposite.

Going to the gym when you don't feel like it is self-care. Canceling plans because you "need to recharge" for the third week in a row is avoidance wearing a self-care costume.

Having the hard conversation with your partner is self-care. Taking a bath to avoid thinking about the hard conversation is avoidance.

Setting a boundary with your mom is self-care. Cutting off everyone who makes you uncomfortable is isolation you've relabeled.

The test is simple. After the "self-care," are you closer to or further from the life you actually want. If your self-care routine is keeping you comfortable but stuck, it's not care. It's a coping mechanism that lets you feel good about dodging the work.

Actual self-care often looks like discipline, not relaxation. It looks like showing up when you'd rather hide. It looks like doing the thing that scares you because you know it matters. That's the version that changes your life.

Insight

I know you love showing up for others.
But remember, you matter too.

When your cup is empty, it’s hard to keep going.
It’s okay to rest, to pause, to breathe.
Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s love.

The Motivation Lie

You don't have a motivation problem. You have an activation problem. And there's a difference.

Motivation means you don't care. Activation means you care a lot but your brain won't let you start. You've been staring at the thing you need to do for three hours. You've thought about it 50 times. You've reorganized your desk, checked your phone, made a snack, and looked at it again. Still haven't started.

That's not laziness. That's executive dysfunction. Your ignition switch is broken, not your engine.

Stop treating it like a willpower issue and start treating it like the neurological issue it is. There are actual, evidence-based treatments that fix this. You've just been told to "try harder" your whole life instead of being told what's actually going on.

Future you is either going to thank you or call you a dick. Go get evaluated.

Over-explaining usually comes from a good place.
You want to be understood, you want things to feel fair.
But the more you try to convince someone who has already decided not to understand you, the more drained you become.

There’s a whole culture built on illusion…people acting confident like that proves something. Posting about “abundance” while quietly dodging accountability. Polishing their aesthetic while avoiding actual outcomes. And yep, it’s a trap a lot us fall into.

And the product?

Vibes.
Hot takes.
A highlight reel, a curated persona, and probably a ring light or two.

But that’s not growth.
That’s not healing.
That’s not success.

That’s performance.

If it’s all performance, it’s not progress. You can’t filter your way into a better life. You can’t pose your way into peace. Looking successful isn’t the same as becoming someone solid.

Real success? It’s not loud.

It’s not something that needs a spotlight or a caption to matter. It’s built on habits, not hashtags. It shows up in how you live, not just how you post.

So if the only thing holding your identity together is the performance of progress…

You’re not evolving.
